The Natural History Society of the Balearic Islands (Societat d’Història Natural de les Balears, SHNB) is pleased to host the 13th EEA Conference, with the support of the Balearic Islands Government through the partnership of the Ministry of Research, the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, as well as the University of the Balearic Islands. The Scientific Conference will be hold at the ParcBit Auditorium, the park of new technologies located at ca. 7 km from the centre of Palma city, close to the University of the Balearic Islands. The Assembly of the EEA Board will take place at the Palmaaquarium, the new aquarium in the city, where delegates will visit the deepest tank in Europe containing a variety of shark and ray species (www.palmaaquarium.com).

Programme of Scientific Conference
Invited are contributions dealing with the following aspects of chondrichthyans:
Taxonomy
Biology
Ecology
Fisheries, Management and Conservation.
Communications on other aspects of Chondrichthyans will be considered by the Scientific Committee. Contributors from all parts of Europe and beyond are invited to present their work. The meeting will include both oral communications and posters presentations. All will be conducted in English.
A Proceedings volume containing selected and peer-reviewed articles will be published as a monograph in the journal Scientia Marina. Contributors are requested to bring their manuscripts to the EEA Conference. Please note that Scientia Marina does not publish ichthyological notes.

EXTENDED DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS AND REGISTRATION (info@shnb.org): October 16th 2009.
The EEA and the SHNB are pleased to announce the attendance, as keynote speakers, of Dr. John A. Musick (Marshall Acuff Chair in Marine Science at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science, The College of William and Mary, USA) and Dr. Peter Last (Senior Principal Research Scientist at CSIRO, Australia) at the Conference.
Translation English / Spanish
Simultaneous translation English-Spanish will be available at the conference venue. Spanish speakers wishing to present their oral communications in Spanish will be able to do it.
Auction
As usual at the EEA Meetings, an auction will be held after the social dinner on Friday 20th. Delegates are kindly requested to contribute some items to this event, that will help to fund the students’ attendance.
